Message from our President:
The the past 4 years, THE winter event has been a joint dinner meeting between the Sewickley Valley Historical Society (SVHS) and Moon Township Historical Society. In 2014 and 2015, the Ben Avon Area Historical Association (BAAHA) joined the party.
We are using the occasion to recognize a Moon Township organization of which we are justifiably proud: The Robert Morris University. Not so long ago, that area of Moon Township was knwon as the Kaufman estate: a rolling hilly area with an old mansion and formal garden tucked away behind the hill. We attended theater at the old Red Barn and applauded performances introduced by thespian Thomas Gaydos.
We were pleased that a college, Robert Morris, known to most of us as a two year downtown business school, would purchase the Kaufman estate and relocate here. Now, in 2016, barely a blink later, it is an internationally known University iwth a number of advanced degree programs.
Please join us for what promises to be a great evening!
